What We Heard

When it comes to Prince Edward Island’s groundwater resources, people want science and evidence-based research to inform public policy and protect their drinking water. This was just one of the common themes identified during the Water Withdrawal Regulation consultations.

Islanders want evidence-based research to inform public policy and protect the Island's drinking water.

More than 230 people and groups participated in consultations and shared opinions on how government regulates water withdrawals on Prince Edward Island.

The Water Withdrawal Regulations are one of four sets of regulations that are required to be in place in order to implement the Water Act. These regulations will help the Province of PEI to manage and track who is using what amounts of water. For the first time, the regulations will require permits for all those who use more than normal household levels.
